In the aftermath of the assassination of Charlie Kirk while speaking at Utah Valley University on Wednesday, his family is receiving an outpouring of support.
Tucker Carlson and Neil Patel began a fundraiser for Kirk’s wife, Erika and two children on Thursday. Carlson’s nicotine pouch brand, ALP, provided $1 million in seed money. They set a goal of $5 million. By Friday afternoon, over $3 million had been raised.
“He was an amazing person,” Carlson said in a statement. “It’s hard to find the right words in a moment like this or to understand exactly what’s happened. But in the meantime, we want to do everything we can for Charlie’s widow Erika and their two small children.”
Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker also showed support for Kirk and his family.
“Thank you for your strong witness for Christ @charliekirk11,” Butker posted on X. “Thank you for pursuing truth and leading your family as a husband and father. Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May their soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.”
Butker shared a text message Kirk sent him in October 2024, quoting Philippians 3:14.
“I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call in God in Christ Jesus,” Kirk texted him.
Butker replied: “On the mission. Thank you.”
Meanwhile, Liberty University students held a prayer vigil on Thursday, where they prayed for Kirk’s family. Liberty’s chancellor said Kirk was an important voice speaking out in a broken world.
“In every place that he had the opportunity to hold a microphone like this, he preached truth. And he spoke up for what matters, for people of your generation, to give voices to people like you across this country that oftentimes might feel like they’re alone,” Liberty Chancellor Jonathan Falwell said in a statement.
“He was helping to give us a reminder that we are not alone, that there are lots of people all across this country who believe the way that we believe, who believe that the Word of God is truth, is infallible, inerrant, inspired, and that God very clearly sent his son, Jesus, who came, who died, and who rose again,” he added.
Also, President Donald Trump expressed condolences for Kirk and his family.
“No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us.
“Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!”
