A 12-year-old boy who fought back against his school for pushing a book about changing genders addressed a Religious Liberty Commission hearing hosted at the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C. on Monday.
“I’ve been a Christian my whole life, and Jesus means everything to me,” he told President Donald Trump, who invited the boy to the podium to share his story. “I knew this was not right, but I was afraid of getting in trouble.
“After my family spoke up, the school treated us badly and kids started bullying me and my brother because of our faith.”
Trump praised the boy for his delivery and promised his administration would continue to protect the religious freedom of students.
