Watch: Tearful moment Erika Kirk forgives man accused of killing Charlie

A tearful Erika Kirk quoted Jesus’ words on the cross, forgiving the man believed to have killed her husband, Charlie Kirk.

“That man, that young man – I forgive him,” she said Sunday at Kirk’s memorial service in Glendale, Arizona. “I forgive him because it was what Christ did and is what Charlie would do.”

Kirk, who founded Turning Point USA, was assassinated Sept. 10 while speaking at Utah Valley University. Tyler Robinson, 23, has been charged with his murder and could face the death penalty.

“The answer to hate is not hate,” Erika Kirk continued. “The answer we know from the Gospel is love and always love – love for our enemies and love for those who persecute us.”
